    Marvellous piece of engineering

The Oresund bridge which connects Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmo, Sweden through the Oresund strait is a true piece of engineering (architects will think otherwise ). This bridge re-defines the meaning of the word "bridge" and actually goes underwater to let the big ships pass through it. The bridge also has two levels; the upper one for vehicles and the lower one for trains. A solid example of innovation and usability.

    World's largest error message

Came across something interesting and hence thought of sharing it here. These two displays are one of the biggest displays at The Times Square in NYC.

Mind you, Windows XP did not crash, its the application that malfunctioned and hence Windows error reporting is trying to report the error. Read the full article here

    Turning 22...

So here i am sitting, far away from civilisation and my loved ones, celebrating v-day and my b-day....well, if having a nap qualifies as a celebration. Never had I thought that I would ever land up somewhere in rural Nova Scotia. I still remember my earliest birthdays and the birthday parties at school and home. Sometimes, it all seems so unreal...all those years in Lucknow and Dehradun seem to be a distant haze now.

Somebody out there also missed me a lot on valentine's day. Sometimes, i look out my bedroom window and wonder what is life like on the other side of the planet...in my country, my hometown. I wonder what my loved ones are upto...

    30 Boxes online calendaring

As spoken about earlier on other blogs, 30 Boxes has begun its beta. It is an online calendaring service and has a very simple and slick UI. Adding an event is very easy and one can associate an event with different tags. Events can be automatically identified by keywords present in them and they would be scheduled accordginly. For example if you enter "Julie's birthday 14 Feb", it will automatically add the event as a annual recurring event. Everything is cool, but I would have loved it if it had a Outlook sync facility

    My birthday gift to Anando

I have been planning on building a new machine for a long time now and retire my trusty old DELL Inspiron 1100. I started buying all the individual parts by the end of december 2005 and January 2006. My last package comprising of the case and the CPU was delivered to my work yesterday. I could not wait to go home and assemble all the parts together and breathe life into the new machine. The specs are as follows:

It took me about 2-3 hours to assemble everything in the MicroATX case. Getting everything in the MicroATX case is touger, but to do any kind of cable management in that case is even tougher ! I finally pressed the power switch and my machine whirred into life. Thereafter i installed the best OS;Windows XP Professional with SP2, and i was amazed at the fast performance. Today sometime i plan to dual/triple boot with Windows XP MCE. Windows Vista Build 5270 and Winodws XP x64 edition.

Today Nova Scotia is getting hit by a major snowstorm and everything is shut in Halifax, except ofcourse, Nautel ! So, here i am at work (walked it all the way in -18 celsius and 20 cms snow) and i have nothing to do since no one else in my team is here. But its essential to get paid, right ?
